Virtual Baby Shower

For the Tiffany's baby shower, I wanted to do the little "thank you for coming" table.

I don't have any white walls, so ignore the paneling!  I tried covering them up with some hand-dyed tulle...  Oh well.

As you can see, there are little mustaches everywhere, including on the lid of each of the baby bottles, which are stuffed with blue and green Jelly Beans that I got from Amazon.  For the "guestbook," I used 3.5"x5" notecards for people to write down tips and wishes then use a clothespin to pin up to the tulle to add to the backdrop.  Also, I love the guest the arrival/delivery date game and set that up.  I found striped pencils I believe from the dollar section of Michaels.

Tiffany -- congratulations on having a little boy!  We all could not be more excited for you!  Make sure to take plenty of pictures and soak up your little boy's gestures, glances, sounds, smells, and grasps.  Also, get as much rest as possible!

Sponsors, Giveaways, & First Things First

Hey friends!

It's been a bit busy in my life over here, I'm working on school, my upcoming graduation, client work, and the upcoming lifestyle magazine (which reminds me, if you haven't received an email back from me you will soon!).

I do have a few backup posts for such a time as now, fortunately!  I just haven't even had time to get to the blog to schedule them!  I will be in full swing next week, though :)

I also still have openings for April advertising spots! I am having 20% off all ads using the code APRIL20 .  Visit my advertising page to get your spot!

sponsor love.

Meet Courtney and learn about her faith, blogging, and upcoming baby numero uno!  Plus, you can then enter the giveaway for $20 to Target.  I personally love Target. :)  I also really love this post about how her and her husband told their families!

Halie has some fun Tuesday link ups called First Things First:

Today's topics:
First Roommate (s)
First Time Living Away from Home
First Dorm Room at College

I'm going to briefly answer these at the end of the post. :)  Go link up !  I love writing prompts!

Lauren is such a sweetheart with a lovely sense of style!  Every Tuesday she has a Style Sessions link up!  It's been awhile since I've done an outfit post (though I have one ready to go in my camera....), but this is definitely going to be something I'll be participating in!  It's so much fun seeing everyone's sense of style.  If you have any favorite or upcoming style posts, you should consider linking up!

Last but certainly not least is the wonderful Kristyn.  You've all met her before on my blog and she's a fellow Atlantan (though we haven't been able to have a blate yet!)  She's always such a doll !  You'll be seeing her around these parts again, pretty soon :)

giveaways.
There are some awesome giveaways going on in the blogosphere.  I'm going to some up some fun ones for you!

First Roommate: The first college I attended after high school graduation was a small liberal arts university.  It was a beautiful campus with gorgeous Southern architecture and history galore.  The college did a great job of pairing roommates that come from the same cities/areas (I guess to share rides commuting between home and campus).  I met my roommate where we lived the summer before college began, we seemed to have a lot in common.  But we ended up just kind of going our separate ways.  She met this guy who would also be starting at the same university and they spent what seemed like 100% of their time together.  I was trying to balance my faith and living on my own for the first time.  Fortunately, we were only suite mates.  I was fortunate to have a room to myself and we only shared a bathroom.  When I transferred out at the end of the semester, I didn't even say goodbye.  I mean I had a lot going on and it just didn't even occur to me.  But I hear they are engaged now and I'm glad they are still together.  They seemed like a good pairing. :)

First Time Living Away from Home: college as aforementioned :)  It was a super interesting adjustment.  I was around a lot of things I wasn't really comfortable with and dorm life is awful.  I guess I was also being all prudish, but I still managed to find a good group of friends with Campus Catholics and a sorority I was planning on rushing in (but ended up backing out when a sorority weekend coincided with another obligation I had as a member of Regnum Christi, a sect within the Church).  It was in Campus Catholics that I met my husband, two of my bridesmaids, and two of my husband's groomsmen.  So I guess this was still a pretty awesome time in my life ;)  Even though I moved back home because I transferred to a university closer to home, I still enjoyed visiting my friends over the next few semesters.

First Dorm Room at College: as I mentioned, I had my own little space and I only shared a bathroom with my suite mate.  For some reason I was in to black, white, and red.  So I had black bath towels, a red run, a zebra blanket, a black comforter, and black, white, and red decorations.  Including an Eiffel tower from Target.  In fact, I might have gotten the majority of things form Target (love Target!).  I actually really don't like the color red now, so I never really kept any of the red stuff from that "theme." But I still have the zebra blanket and use the black bath towels.  I pulled these picture from Facebook to show you ;)

#ClubSexy #CaraBox Exchange

I received this wonderful package in the mail from Emily, one of my partners for the Cara Box Exchange.

We talked about husband and I and what we do for fun or for date nights.  I told her that because we have such busy schedules, we normally like to keep things either really simple like with a meal, movie, or wine & cheese nights or something really different/rare to get out and do something (like this past Friday we went to our first ever basketball game).  I personally love wine & cheese nights!  MC does, too, but probably not as much as I do.  We'll do some Italian meats, try a new cheese (I really love a Port salut), and maybe try a new wine -- but we normally just stick to Moscato, our favorite, which she knows, hence the wine pourer and stopper!

Funny story, the only stopper we have was our only souveniour from when we visited Venice.  I love using it, but it's very tall, so the wine bottle with the stopper we currently have doesn't fit in the fridge (which is where white wine tends to go).... so I'm super glad we have a new one now!

I also love lovely scents so she sent me some different ones to try.  How fun!  And I love the oil warmer.  I have never used one so I will definitely be experimenting to figure it out and play with scents. :)

Thank you Emily so much!  This was such a fun month for the Cara Box Exchange and I'm so grateful that Kaitlyn from Wifessionals took the extra time and effort to pair people up according to location!  Kaitlyn you are too awesome & wonderful!!

My other partner (who I sent to) is Erin.  I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both these lovely girls -- fellow Georgians whom I can't wait to have blates with!!  To find out what I sent to Erin, go check out her blog here and send some love to both her and Emily who is here.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Melissa from TLNSOW came up with questions for husbands to answer.  We were supposed to answer as well to see how many the husbands got right.  I thought this would be fun because my husband has never been on this blog before!  Plus, we don't celebrate Valentine's in real life, so I thought this might be a way to celebrate with the blogging community.

P.S. for those of you who aren't married or with someone, my favorite Valentine's ever was with a few friends in high school.  We stayed up all night watching movies and even made a 5am run to Kroger (to get food or something? I don't remember).  It was awesome.  Why don't I celebrate with husband?  Eh, I don't do the mushy gushy, I'm on a diet, and I tend to kill flowers within days.

Shall we proceed to the Q&A?  If there are any other questions you want to ask husband about him, me, etc, feel free to let me know in the comments!

Format =
Question? "Husband's answer."
My commentary/what I wrote down if we answered the questions differently.
November 2011
1. How long have you been married? "8 months."
Attaboy.

2. Where was your first date? "Twilight/Arby's"
Then we did the cool kids thing and stayed up all night with a few other friends talking and watching movies (literally, my girlfriend and I went to our dorms at 5am that morning... then continued to chat).  I think that was literally the last night I stayed up all night.  I'm such an old lady, now.  I believe that was the night of her first kiss with her now husband.... me and my husband had our first kiss like a few weeks after that night.  (Proof that boys and girls can be together overnight and keep it G-rated.)

3. Who first said, "I love you"? "Amy"
I had already had two serious relationships before him, so I kind of already knew that he was different/special.  He, on the other hand, had never had a serious relationship so he wasn't so sure until maybe a few months later.  No worries, I was a good sport. ;)

4. What were your wedding colors? "Yellow, green, etc."
Ivory, pale pink, buttercream yellow, green.  Close enough, right girls?  He's a guy and he just knew we had a garden themed wedding.  Though the bridesmaid dresses were pink...... so shouldn't that been part of the answer?

5. What is her most commonly used phrase?  "'I can't find my phone!'"
Yep, that's right.  I don't have a special location for it in my purse.  I tend to leave it in various places. And because of school/work/the hospital, it's almost always on silent (yep, not even necessarily on vibrate).  Twice in the course of our relationship have I actually left it at an eatery and had to turn around and go back hoping that someone didn't take it.  The last time was February 8, 2013.

6. Who is her celebrity crush? "Liam Neeson."
Yes, I put that, too.  I love me some Liam Neeson.

7. If she was ordering drinks for both of you, what would you get? "A - mudslide, me - Stella."
My response: "me: sweet tea or water, him: sweet tea or coke."  We misinterpreted the question, obviously.  But, for the record, I haven't ordered a mudslide since 2009 (that's right, I know the year because it was a friend's 21st birthday dinner).  If it's drinks it would be: a Moscato for myself and a beer selection for him (Stella, probably, but that's not often an option).

8. What is the best meal she has ever cooked you?  "Lasagna."

9. What is the worst meal she has ever cooked you? "Some vegan dish... tofu or something."
It was a ratatouille recipe gone wrong.  It either was too salty or too vinegary....  I couldn't even eat it and I'm all about 100% vegetarian/vegan.  There was no tofu, for the record.

10. What would she say is your most annoying habit? "Swearing."
Why, yes.  I used to never curse.  Then I got in to nursing school.  Now, it's a habit we both must break, especially for when there are kiddos in the picture.

11. What is the last thing she does before she goes to bed? "Watches TV and reads blogs."
Well, I don't necessarily read blogs, I just check my phone.  I do, however, fall asleep to the TV 95% of the time -- it's the only way I can fall asleep most nights.  I am rarely too exhausted to fall asleep without it.

12. If you could throw out one item of her clothing what would it be? "Boots - all of them."
Yep, I knew he was going to say that.  He apparently isn't a big boot fan.  I don't care and collect them anyways. :)

13. What would you say is your favorite thing about her? "Infinite passion without bounds."
Awh, now isn't that sweet..... I thought he would say it's that I run errands and cook..... oops.  -1 point for Amy.

14. What's her go-to drink at Starbucks? "Chai tea soy latte."
And he likes it, too. ;)

15. What's her blog's name?  "The Charming Blog"
The man is my biggest supporter, he probably knows more about my blog than I do... okay, not really.

Embrace your inner...

Photobucket

I am 100% in love with all things Star Wars.
You might have first noticed my obsessionlove with this Friday Finds post back in September.  We own all six movies and don't really have a favorite, or not one that wins by a landslide.  I have two text tones and one ring tone from the movies (R2-D2 as my main text tone, Chewbacca as husband's text tone, and husband's ringtone is the Star Wars theme song).  I do have a small stuffed Chewbacca from one of my first birthdays with Mr. Charming.

And I am trying to convince my family that we should all have a Star Wars themed birthday party for me this year (since I'm turning my favorite number): mom = Padme, dad = Anakin or Darth Vader (his choice), brother = Luke, husband = Han, grandfather = Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidius or Obi Wan (his choice), me = Leia (not the bikini outfit, sorry, expect buns and a white robe).  Don't worry, in-laws, you are under no obligation to participate.  But, do expect Shelby (our dog) to be Yoda.  So far, I just get laughed at...  I think it would be fun...

I play a MMORPG.
What does that mean, some of you may ask?  It means massively multiplayer online role-playing game. No, it's not Second Life (though I hear great things about that).  Though my brother hates the game that I play, I love it.  My husband got me on to it because he knows how much I like games.  Another story, when I was little I was in love with the game Doom.  My brother would play it, but I was forbidden by my mother.... apparently husband really liked it, too! Speaking of which....

I love games, and not just your average, run of the mill, boardgames (though I do love me some Taboo).
My brother has introduced us to some fabulous games like Dominion, 7Wonders, Agricola.  I am ready to play Settlers of Catan!  Did I ever tell you the first time I ever talked to my husband was over a card game?

I am currently into fantasy fiction.
I just completed all the books and one novella in the Iron Druid Chronicles, and I highly recommend it.  My brother recommended to me a new series that I'm giving a chance: the Mistborn series, if you're interested how it is, I'll let you know!

I just completed all the books and one novella in the Iron Druid Chronicles, and I highly recommend it.  My brother recommended to me a new series that I'm giving a chance: the Mistborn series, if you're interested how it is, I'll let you know!

Cara Box Exchange

Cara Box

If you haven't yet heard of the Cara Box exchange by the amazing Kaitlyn of Wifessionals, then I am here to tell you about my first experience so you can go ahead and sign up.

I was matched to send a gift to Kaitlyn herself (how awesome!) and to receive a gift from the lovely Hallie from Life: Oceanside.  If you know me, then you know my favorite part about blogging is the community, so I just love opportunities like this to get to know bloggers in a different way.

Hallie went above and beyond.  You see, there is a $15 limit for spending, so Hallie went ahead and got all crafty with it.

As you can see above, she found a picture from Christmas 2011 that I had posted on the blog, printed it out, and attached it to this piece of painted wood with the Christmas saying on it!  Perfect!  Love it!  I only decorate for the Christmas season, so I love anything that will add meaning to my collection!

Each gift was individually wrapped (so it was like an extended Christmas!).  Though not everything is shown, you can definitely see the awesomeness that was this package.  I swear, this girl knows me a little too well considering we'd never actually met: peppermint bark from Ghirardelli?  What?  How'd you know?  A new Maybelline nail polish (did you know that I don't actually have a red nail polish color?  Strange, right?  I've been thinking about picking some up...).

She also painted a gold ornament  with "Mr. and Mrs. est. 6-16-12."  Ah!  Love it.  It went right on my tree.

There was one disappointment: she had found this super super cute snowman mug (I love mugs!) and it unfortunately broke during shipment.  I tried gluing it back together and ended up just breaking it more (oops).  But, it's the thought that counts, right?  And she did a great job.  Totally smitten on this girl that I wouldn't have known if I wasn't matched with her (or maybe eventually I would have come across her blog, but who knows when that would be, it's such a huge "blogosphere" out there).

Thanks, Hallie!!!!!  Now, everyone go check her out and send her some love HERE!

10 December 2012

Ten on Ten

  1. I love the holidays because of the memories.
  2. When it's a cold day outside, I just want to cuddle up in bed with my husband and our creatures. Though, if it's snowing (which it most likely is not in Atlanta), then I'll be outside with my camera and my dog.
  3. I'm secretly hoping I get an Erin Condren planner and a new camera purse for Christmas/Hanukkah.
  4. The person that's the hardest to shop for: my brother and my mom, they both buy what they need throughout the year, so you have to get creative for holidays and birthdays.
  5. The person I finished shopping for first: my dad.
  6. I started / will start shopping: finished.  I got really excited this year.  First time, ever.
  7. My favorite holiday memory was when --- I'll get back to you.
  8. The best holiday tradition that we have is well, we really don't have too many traditions.  Christmas breakfast?  But it's a sausage egg mixture so it's not really my favorite.  It's more about the time together.
  9. I plan on ending the year with a bang / whisper by we have no plans yet.... but knowing my husband we will probably figure it out last minute.  I'm okay with that =)
  10. During the holidays you can find me in Georgia -- we aren't going anywhere.  My family is north Atlanta suburbs and his family is in eastern Georgia.

Blogger's Digest

HAPPY FRIDAY!
It is the last day of November.
What does that mean?
Tomorrow I am going to have a dance party
and run around the house shouting HAPPY DECEMBER.
Seriously.  I do this every December.
It must be the little girl in me.

If you are in need of some great online, homemade business shops to spoil yourself or loved ones, don't forget to check out Charming Holiday magazine & catalog!  You won't be disappointed and will feel plenty inspired.

Here are the shops I featured this week:

Get to feeling organized for this holiday season with this lovely post by iHeart Organizing.

This is such a magical DIY ornament by Craftberry Bush for your trees.
I can't wait until after finals so I can be all crafty and do this.

Chai tea lattes are my go-to drink all year round.  But I can never seem to make them
at home the way they do at Starbucks or Saxby's.  Ah, it makes my soul sad.
But this seems to be a perfect way to make homemade chai deliciousness.

Do you have a sweet tooth like me?
I like even just a little bit of something sweet after my dinners.
But this Caramel Apple Cheesecake might just be my dinner:
