This Thanksgiving was celebrated between my family and Duncan's family. Since I love cooking, I wanted to try a new recipe, along with some traditional ones. I wanted to do sweet potato pie, but unfortunately, only a few people like sweet potatoes, so I had to nix the Thanksgiving-themed dessert. Peach cobbler seemed to be the winner for everyone. And, so, I baked.
Ingredients
4 cups peeled, sliced peaches
2 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup water
8 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 1/2 cups milk
Ground cinnamon, optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combines the peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well.
Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.
Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if using.
Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30-45 minutes.
We served this with french vanilla ice cream. I am such a fan of a hot dessert with cold ice cream. Mm, delicioso!
Everyone loved this recipe and Duncan has asserted that this should become a new Thanksgiving tradition -- I love traditions!
Enjoy, my friends!
I love peach cobbler!!! Yummy. :)
