WW: Engagement Session Recap

This past Sunday, November 6, Duncan and I had our engagement session with our wonderful wedding photographer, Jeff Franks.  Part of our wedding package included an engagement session, something that has becoming increasingly popular in the past few years.  We know we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful season so we headed to a favorite hiking spot of ours: Roswell Mill.

Here are some quick scenes from the day:

We are a pretty camera-shy couple, which made me a bit worried going in to the day about how successful we would actually be for our photographer.  But, Jeff was understanding and definitely knew what he was doing.  By the end of the day, we were tired, but I think we had loosened up well enough to get some great shots.

I had wanted to incorporate just a few "props" because I was very apprehensive about just "standing there" in what seemed like would-feel-awkward photos, I thought they would help "guide" us camera-shy people along, and would add a simple, fun element to the session.  I had a lot of great ideas, but discovered a lot of them might be "overkill" and I wasn't sure about dragging them all along.  I was committed to the idea of a pumpkin with our wedding date on it.  The pumpkin ended up being a great hit!  We got some great shots and poses with the pumpkin and then at the end of our session decide to "trash it" since we were tired of lugging the massive, heavy fruit around.  I was thinking they might make as fun photos, and I hope I was right!

We feel like the day and the session were successful.  We had brought clothes for a second outfit change, but didn't end up using them. We are so blessed that the day turned out so favorably for us: cloudy blue skies, warm sunshine, and a great mix of greens, reds, and oranges in the trees.

Roswell Mill provided us with so many different locations and opportunities to snap some photos.  Jeff, and his adorable helper wife, were so wonderful and made the day really successful.  And, now, I can't wait to share the pictures with you-- as soon as we see them ourselves!
