Today, I leave with my sweet friend on a little beach getaway. She's having a little baby boy due in August so this is our last getaway together before he arrives. In honor of this girls mini vacation, I complied this list of must haves for my beach vacations. Enjoy! :)

A Fair Date
Friday night date to the Cumming Fair, Forsyth Country, Georgia
Reason for going: quality time
Real reason for going: fair food
Favorite fair food: turkey legs and funnel cakes
Favorite memory of the night: other than the quality time and food, that I shot a crossbow a bit better than my husband (to be fair, I was an archer a long time ago; we still did not walk away with a giant banana with dreads and rosta decoration)
Favorite ride: ferris wheel -- only ride worth waiting in line for

Stylin' Saturday: Autumn Inspiration
Shabby Apple has amazing fashion that I have always oogled for, so it was really hard to narrow down products for this post. Click to go shopping.
Though I've never really done a lot of browsing on Modcloth, I definitely found some lovely items for fall! Click to go shopping.
If you know me, you know I love neutrals with pops of colors. When I think of autumn, that's exactly what I think of -- when I'm not all giddy that it's also boot season.
Though not everything is as affordable as I'd like them to be, these are definitely some absolute favorite fashion of mine that I would totally buy if I could! I'm sure I'll find some great deals inspired my these items this season.

Spring is HERE!
Spring is such a great time. It's Lent. That's a pretty awesome reason right there. I went to do Stations of the Cross and attend a fish fry at my church Friday night with some old friends. I am quite excited for Holy Week because I have a silent retreat scheduled. This is something I really need because school is keeping me very busy and very distracted.
Since it's sooo nice outside lately, I am excited to have the excuse to get out and take advantage of the wonderful weather before it gets too hot and humid (I strongly dislike the Atlantan heat). Bike riding anyone? Maybe some camping? I'm contemplating backpacking through Providence Canyon during my May break.....I've never backpacked, though, so it should be interesting!
A great passage for the Lenten occasion that I came across the other day:
LUKE 5: 27-32
After this he went out, and saw a tax collector, named Levi, sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, "Follow me." And he left everything, and rose and followed him. And Levi made him a great feast in his house; and there was a large company of tax collectors and others sitting at table with them. And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?" And Jesus answered them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

Spring Cleaning Around the Corner!
So, in preparation of FABULOUS spring that is soon approaching us--did anyone else have beautiful weather today like I did?--I'm preparing for all the joys of spring: vegetable garden, feeling refreshed, not wearing sweats inside the house, being organized, getting out & enjoying the wonderful outdoors. I even have a much-needed backpacking trip to Providence Canyon scheduled.
I have several things on my to-do list:
- Organize medicine drawer (pretty much every drug needs to be discarded, & I'll tell you why when I have organized my medicine drawer).
- Add more character to my boring walls.
- Organize kitchen better (and figure out what things I need to always have in stock).
- Create a car emergency kit (I'm not always at home because of school and visiting friends and family, so it's probably good to always have some things on hand).
- Creating uncluttered storage with baskets---I love baskets!
Here are some wonderful organizing tips that I plan to take full advantage of:

So much for my first week...
Snow[wo]man attempt 2011.
It was so cold that I could no longer feel my toes.
Needless to say, I went inside for warmth & never looked back.

This week was... eventfully uneventful. It was supposed to be my first week in the nursing program until the entire country underwent "Snowpocalypse." So instead of starting nursing school with my fellow classmates in an actual classroom at school, I started it [in my pajamas--possibly the only advantage] myself in my room. So, was I as motivated as I should have been? Definitely not. Was I still responsible for learning the material in spite of the weather? Most definitely so. Fortunately, it's a three day weekend (added on to the extra week of no school which was tagged on to the month I got off for the holidays). But, unfortunately, I have a busy week starting Tuesday including a quiz in six chapters of medical terminology. Hopefully, I can muster the motivation I need to get back in to the swing of things.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
Last night, I had a craving to wear a skirt--funny craving in this weather, right? I saw a Kate Spade skirt that might have inspired this craving. And then I logged on to the wonderful world wide web to see if there were any good deals on skirts. It was then, that I discovered Ananya's etsy shop and I am really tempted to do some shopping.
I was originally attracted to the black & grey skirt colors
because they are more practical. But bolder colors might
be more fun to dress up! There are a lot of colors you can
order: red, green, yellow, purple, etc. How fun! Plus, the
skirts have POCKETS. YAY.

I just love this bolero... I wonder if I could pull it off?
Have a happy weekend.
